The ocean is ideal for swimming - warm throughout the year and generally calm, protected from the rolling waves of the Atlantic by a coral reef. Go for a snorkel; navigate your own walking tour around town; visit a straw market; test your fishing skills catching bonefish; or keep the day's main event island-appropriate, i.e., slather on more sunscreen and settle back in your chaise lounge until it's time for another sunset and a steamy plate of cracked conch. Go to Harbour Island in the Bahamas where you can rest on soft fine pink sands!

5/ Crane Beach (Barbados)The crane beach was named “one of the Ten Best Beaches in the world” by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. It is situated between protective rock outcroppings, making it a very secluded spot. The waters of the south eastern coast of Barbados provide opportunities to bodysurf and boogey board. Crane Beach, originally a harbour, is considered by many to be one of the island's most beautiful beaches. In fact, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous rated it as "one of the ten best beaches in the world"! The name "Crane" was derived from the large crane situated at the top of the cliff which was used for loading and unloading ships. The Crane Resort & Residences, standing on the cliff above the beach, has been a favorite with honeymooners since it opened in 1867. The view in the photo shows why! In the gardens of the Hotel you will find the magnificent Grand Jete Statue. Often voted as Barbados’ most beautiful beach. On up to the rainforest, home of 100's of species of butterfies and birds, flowering vines and exotic plants beyond description. The beach slopes steeply down to the sea which has short but often large breakers, making it tricky at times to get in and out. But once in the sea you will appreciate just how lovely the beach, its surroundings and the sea are. There's great snorkelling at either end of the beach from the coral reef, which is alive with multi-coloured tropical fish. There is a small restaurant serving local dishes at reasonable prices, and some quite high quality craft stalls offer a completely different stock to other stalls around the island. All this at Englishman's Bay Tobago - a magic corner of the Caribbean - the Caribbean you dream about!

8/ Grace Bay (Turks & Caicos) – Grace Bay is the tourist strip where all the hotels are lined up. It's nice enough, but, nowhere near as spectacular as some of the other reviewers here have suggested, and the snorkeling is so-so. The thing to do is base yourself at Grace Bay and take tours to various locations around Provo where the truly postcard perfect spots are.
We did some amazing snorkeling trips and saw some to-die-for beaches and lots of marine life.  If you're lucky enough to travel to this beautiful part of the world do not just stay on Grace Bay, see your Tour Desk, talk to other tourists, visit places such as Iguana Island, French Cay Island and you'll have an amazing holiday.  Part of a national marine park, this beach has fine white sand, calm turquoise waters and is protected by a barrier reef.

9/ Trunk Bay (US Virgin Islands) – A beautiful beach with crystal clear waters, considered one of the best places for snorkeling in the Caribbean. A truly amazing beach. Clear, blue water, soft white sand. It's also within VI National Park grounds so the grounds are immaculate. There is only one tiny snack bar there but amazingly it's not bad for a casual lunch. If you're staying on St. Thomas and have a rental car, take the Red Hook car ferry so you can drive around St. John for a bit. Trunk Bay has sands white and sparkling, water crystal clear, little fish peeking at your toes, gently rolling swells or mightily pounding surf, all surrounded by coconut palms gracefully waving a welcome. There are also old ruins, if you are nostalgic, sun as hot as you like it, and an under-sea trail for snorkeling and sightseeing

10/ Shoal Bay (Anguilla) – Shoal Bay beach is one of the premier stretches of sand in the Caribbean. It is also the most popular beach on Anguilla and attracts locals, tourists and day trippers from the neighboring island of St. Martin. Shoal Bay is also one of the places in Anguilla where you can here live music on the beach. Changes to Shoal Bay for year 2000 include the major upgrade to Shoal Bay Beach Hotel. Put Angullia on the tourism map; sugar-white sand, crystal clear blue waters & coral reefs. There are 33 brilliant white sand beaches on Anguilla, and you'll find that each one has it's own personality. The biggest beach on Anguilla is Shoal Bay East. It's the most well known and written about. It's got a large number of great beach bars, restaurants and reasonably pricedaccommodations right on the beach. It's where the best music action is on the weekend for tourists and locals alike. It's an unbelievable two miles of brilliant white sand caressed by gently lapping waves. It truly is what every Caribbean beach should be.
